INTRODUCTION

As the world becomes a global marketplace, companies both small and big are growing increasingly dependent on their ability to conduct business internationally especially in developing countries whose economies are largely export-dependent. The biggest obstacle to international expansion continues to be the lack of qualified export and trade knowledge.

Since Malaysia is the 4th Trade dependant country in the world, there has been much emphasis on exporting of Malaysian products and services. With the falling ringgit, the target to increase SME exporters from 17 % to 23 % by the year 2020 and the formation of the Malaysian Export Council this programme would be very welcomed and appreciated by the industry.

This programme will coach the learners to acquire export skills that are detrimental for running an export business. It will provide the learner the required knowledge to adapt products for the export market and also to formulate strategies to enter new markets or expand their current markets

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• To understand the basic fundamentals of export management
• To understand Malaysia’s trade with the world and the performance of Malaysian products in the world market
• To equip with the understanding of the importance of how to make a product viable in the international market by developing a product or service and find the best suppliers and customers
• To understand on the export requirements of various markets and to adapt the products to meet these requirements
• To understand on how exporting is being financed and insured and the operation of relevant financial Institutions which handle export financing
• To understand the various customs and shipping documentation and procedures for exporting and a guide towards the activities involved in transaction using Bills of Exchange.
• To gain information about foreign markets using the tools and sources that are readily available (Internet, books, networks) and to conduct in-depth research into selected markets for increased chances of commerce
• To determine a product’s likelihood of selling and targeting a specific international market and to use the strategies or entry alternatives based on the value chain activities.
• To engage in the various tools and sources towards marketing products and services for the international market.
• To understand the management skills for import export compliance policies, procedures programs to ensure all import and export activities comply with Malaysia and foreign government laws and regulations.
• To develop a deeper understanding of human behaviour in the context of negotiations and an improved ability to identify effective communication strategies to achieve business objectives

Facilitators

All facilitators and mentors will be Industry experts with many years of experience and are endorsed by the University

REGISTRATION

To apply, trainees are required to complete the enclosed form and provide the following:
For service employees:

• A copy of MyID card (Identity Card); and
• A copy of applicant's latest one month salary slip or confirmation letter from Employer

For future workers:
• A copy of MyID card (Identity Card); and
• A copy of highest academic qualification related to Trade Financing

*A confirmation letter will be sent once the application is approved by HRDF.
