The Malaysian Exporters Association (MEXPA) will be organising a Half Day Seminar on “Current Developments in Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) & ASEAN Economics Community (AEC)” on 9th July 2019 (Tuesday) at Melia Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. This Seminar is managed by MEXPA’s training arm, Malaysian Export Academy.

As at January 2018, Malaysia has signed a total of 14 FTAs (7 bilateral and 7 regional) including the latest ASEAN-Hong Kong Free Trade Agreement (AHKFTA) with the target entry into force in 2019. New FTAs are being negotiated with other countries as well.

The establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015 is a major milestone in the regional economic integration agenda in ASEAN, offering opportunities in the form of a huge market of US$2.6 trillion and over 622 million people. In 2014, AEC was collectively the third largest economy in Asia and the seventh largest in the world.
